Kelly Talks About Layering

Are you really rockin’ a cotton turtleneck under that $500.00 AK 2010 Burton Women's Midweight V-Neckjacket!? You might as well put a plastic bag over the top and completely de-value your outerlayer. Staying warm and dry has just as much to do with your long underwear (1st layer) as it has to do with your jacket and pants. 2010 Capita Horrorscope – Park Specific Detune

Hey guys, Parker here with Easy Loungin. Just wanted to give you a quick little tutorial on how I detune my board for park riding with jibbing in mind. If I am going to be riding mostly rails and jibs I like to ride the Capita Horrorscope in a 151. I like the Horrorscope because it is very soft and jibby. The Horrorscope features Capita’s Flatkick Technology and is one of the more fun reverse camber boards I have ever ridden.

Generally when I detune a board I have one major focus: making the edges as dull as possible. This isn’t something you would want to do with your every day board unless you ride a lot of slush where edges aren’t that important. Detuning to the degree that I do is something to consider when you are building a quiver and you decide to purchase a rail/jib board. The reason for taking the edges off is to decrease your chances of hanging up (catching your edge) on any jib feature. If you take your board to a shop they can detune with a constant bevel. However, I always just do it myself because I know what I like and the exact bevel isn’t really important to me. Read the rest of this entry »
