Ok, so maybe it’s not an extravaganza but there are some mini jibs ranging from The Canyons’ perfectly groomed park to our own handmade dorkaround playground. (Mental note – while it might be fun to make jib features outside of the lodge and dodge skiers right and left, having a pitch greater than 1 degree helps immensely. We were committed to hiking up and kook dodging in the name of the shot, though.)

The final day of Boobcon found us at The Canyons, one of my favorite Utah resorts and the home mountain of most of the local Boobcon girls. After the parkless Solitude and the meh park of Brighton some of the girls were itching to get jibby while others were hoping to avoid it altogether. They didn’t succeed. LJJ finished showing us some of his secret special pow stashes and (after we managed to reconnect with Su and Lisa and settle our fears that one or the other had gotten lost/hurt/run off with a cute liftie) we headed to the park to end the day and the vacation by throwing ourselves on and off boxes, baby rails and anything else that got in our way.

Boobcon has long been about progression and encouragement. When we began this, it was to give women the opportunity to roll deep with some sisters – an opportunity most of us never get. Each time we’ve convened, there are little victories and maximum stokage. We try to set apart at least one day for coaching and workshops on how to ride different features, but we ended up with little time left this go round, thanks to a weekend packed with goodies. Luckily, most of the girls were so keen to try anything on the hill that very little encouragement was needed! With the average age of the boobs around 30, we were still pretty game for all the plexi in the park. All I can say is that if we can get Suchick to try new things in the park with minimal coaxing, we can get anyone to at least muster up the courage for a half-hearted attempt at it! How’d your MOM do in the park today?

As I’m sure you’ve realized by now, Boobcon is first about having fun, and second about putting together an amazing group of women who will charge anything you put in front of them. To the very last, we were singing and dancing and making strangers take ridiculous photos of us with our pants down. While we strive to keep our group accessible to lots of riders, I can’t say enough how great it was to ride with such an awesome group of kickass women.

I do have to shout out a quick THANK YOU from all the girls to Chappy for sponsoring Boobcon by helping us get a place to carry out our mischief and making Boobcon that much more fun with demo boards for our ladies to check out some of the new things in the marketplace. I think I can say that we were safely loungin’ easy the entire time and appreciate how well you support the girls.

With Boobcon a week over (and the lasting effects still ravaging my sinuses, chest and throat), I’m already eager to start planning next year’s dance party. Tentative ideas are putting us in Colorado right before or after SIA so if you have girl parts and a desire to join, feel free to chime in and we’ll get the ball rolling for Boobcon v4.0… QuadBoobs. Of course, you never know where the collective boobs will bounce to.  You may find Funbags in Fernie or Breasts in Breckenridge….

Yesterday was the kickoff for the world’s greatest all girls no boys allowed shredcation extraordinaire.  I left Tahoe with a truck full of gear, clothes and expectations Thursday morning and arrived in Salt Lake mere 9 hours later dirty and tired to find birthday cake and booze waiting for me.   Excellent.

Day one brought us to Brighton Resort in Big Cottonwood canyon and we were rolling 10 girls deep through their trees park and piste.   Surprisingly even though it hadn’t snowed all that recently there were still stashes of powder to be found.  Where I am from that would have been tracked packed and turned into mini moguls the day it snowed.   Instead we managed to find light fluffy white stuff hidden all over the mountain just waiting for us to find it.

Things I learned today include:

The number of fart jokes told is the same whether you ride with girls or boys
Bitches Never Move when you tell them to Get Out The Way
There are very few shred injuries that can’t be cured with booze, advil, and hot tubbing
A Train of 10 girls dropping cliffs will cause grown men to yell ‘Get it Girl’ from the chairlift like a high school teenager
Some people never lose that loving feeling
Even though it is technically English, some New Zealanders are impossible to understand… Grin and Nod, Grin and Nod
Champagne Snow is a myth
